2025 Reflection: A Year of Craft, Trust, and Faith

At the beginning of the year, I planned to take two months to revamp my website and refocus my business. I would continue offering my fashion technical design services, but my primary focus would shift toward bespoke dressmaking and corsetry.
That decision required a leap of faith.
I chose to put my time and energy into building my dressmaking business. I also focused on creating a website that felt professional and aligned with my vision. While I had been unhappy with how my site looked before, I’m proud of how far it has come. Along the way, I learned a great deal and discovered that I truly enjoy web design and creative problem-solving. I look forward to continuing to learn and expanding my reach.
The two months I originally planned turned into a full year of development. Looking back, that time was necessary. I believe it allowed me to lay a solid foundation for what I am building. During this period, I also connected with fellow designers and dressmakers on regular zoom meetings offered through Dressmaking Academy. It is a supportive and inspiring community that has provided both creative connection and business resources. It brings me joy to share with other creatives. I love connecting with those who have a passion for corsets and dressmaking.
This year was a practice in trusting my higher power. I leaned on God as I moved forward in this direction with my business. My technical design work has continued to do well. However, I felt a strong pull to return to the gifts God gave me early in life. These gifts are designing, creating, and working with my hands. These gifts have been evident since childhood. They remain the work that truly lights me up. They bring me joy. Learning to be still has been essential. Listening for guidance enriches this process. Having faith in God’s plan has been an important part of this journey.
As a solopreneur, doubt can be part of the process. There were moments when fear and ego suggested I wasn’t ready. They told me I didn’t have the right space or that I was making a mistake. This year taught me to recognize those thoughts for what they are. Progress came from taking small, consistent steps in the direction I want to go. Consistency truly makes a difference.
Looking ahead to 2026, I feel grounded and hopeful. With a strong foundation in place, I am focused on continued growth. I aim to create more beautiful dresses and corsets. I also want to share my craft more openly and expand my presence. I’m excited for what’s ahead.
Wishing you a beautiful holiday season and a wonderful new year filled with love, joy, beauty, and happiness.
With love,
Beth
