The 2026 Met Gala: Fashion Is Art
Last night was the 2026 Met Gala, and the theme was “Fashion Is Art.”
I love watching all the guests arrive and seeing the beautiful gowns. My heart just explodes with all the beauty, joy, and craftsmanship. As a bespoke dressmaker and corset maker, I just want to make them all. I was so inspired.
Corsets and corseted dresses were everywhere this year. Even some of the men were wearing corset pieces — and I am here for it.
Everyone looked absolutely amazing. Here are the looks that stuck out for me.

Gwendoline Christie in Giles Deacon She wore a voluminous red gown and — my favorite detail — a custom mask of her own face made by artist Gillian Wearing. Dramatic, conceptual, and completely unforgettable.
Beyoncé in Olivier Rousteing — and Blue Ivy’s Met Gala debut Beyoncé returned to the Met Gala after a decade away, co-chairing the event in a diamond-encrusted skeletal gown with a dramatic feathered cape. But it was Blue Ivy — in all-white Balenciaga with pearls and shades — who made my heart melt. What a night for this family.

Hailey Bieber in Saint Laurent That blue. That scarf. That gown. Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, channeling the work of artist Yves Klein. She looked absolutely beautiful.

Chase Infiniti in Thom Browne Her first Met Gala, and she showed up! A colorful, sequin-encrusted gown with the female form embellished across the entire dress — over 1.5 million individual sequins. Pure art.

Venus Williams in Swarovski As one of the night’s co-chairs, Venus wore a sparkling black off-the-shoulder gown with a breathtaking Swarovski neckpiece — a tribute to a portrait of herself by artist Robert Pruitt that hangs in the National Portrait Gallery. Fashion honoring art honoring the woman herself.

Kim Kardashian in custom Allen Jones and Whitaker Malem I loved the blonde hair! Kim collaborated directly with the artist Allen Jones, using his body plate forms from the 1960s — a mold from a model painted by the artist himself. Truly one of the most conceptual looks of the night.

Angela Bassett in Prabal Gurung I love the pink! Her floral gown was inspired by Laura Wheeler Waring’s painting Girl in Pink Dress — all femininity and stepping into your power. She brought a much-needed burst of joy and color to the carpet.

SZA in Bode A yellow corseted dress made from garments and trims sourced from eBay — because the designer just wanted to express joy. As a maker, this story moves me. Pure, joyful, resourceful creativity. And that corset!

Gigi Hadid in Miu Miu I loved her simple, fresh makeup. The sheer, flame-and-floral gown was stunning, and she wore it effortlessly.

Jisoo in Dior A soft powder-pastel dream. Quietly beautiful.

Anne Hathaway in Michael Kors Collection This one has my whole heart. Her custom gown was hand-painted by artist Peter McGough, with illustrations inspired by John Keats’s poem Ode on a Grecian Urn — the goddess of peace on the back, a dove at the front. Wearable poetry. Anne always delivers, and this was extraordinary.

Sabrina Carpenter in Dior Made from actual film strips — from the 1954 film Sabrina. I am amazed by how this dress was constructed. The way film was draped and worked into a gown is just incredible to me as a maker. She embodies the theme completely.

Misty Copeland in Michael Kors Collection Beautiful. Grace personified.

Gracie Abrams in Chanel The embroidery. The embroidery. Chanel at its finest — couture-level beading and craftsmanship that takes hundreds of hours. I could not stop staring.

Lauren Sánchez Bezos in Schiaparelli A navy blue Schiaparelli gown referencing John Singer Sargent’s famous portrait Madame X. Stunning from every angle.

Amanda Seyfried in Prada The softest, prettiest pink. A light, feminine, beautifully tailored look.

Alysa Liu in Louis Vuitton Our Olympic gold medalist showed up! A dark red high-low corseted dress with ruffles — and her signature raccoon stripe kept in. I love that she kept it her. Beautiful.

Margot Robbie in Chanel That straight neckline and the cascading drape at the back — gorgeous. Classic and refined.
Bad Bunny and Heidi Klum — my favorites for a different reason. These two reminded me not to take myself so seriously. Bad Bunny aged himself 53 years into the future with full prosthetics, gray hair, and a cane. Heidi Klum did Heidi Klum. I loved every second of it. Fashion should also be fun.
As I mentioned — everyone looked absolutely amazing. These are just the looks that stuck with me. I would love to hear which ones you liked!
I created two Pinterest boards with many more looks from the night — there were so many beautiful gowns I had to make two boards to fit them all.
